The City of Marina is excited to invite the media and community members to Design Day, a pivotal event in the creation of this all-inclusive playground. On Monday, April 14, 2025, Playgrounds by Leathers & Associates, a leader in inclusive playground design, along with 18 community ambassadors, will visit 69 classrooms and 1,459 students in our 3 local elementary schools and facilitate an interactive brainstorming session with local children, allowing them to share their dreams and ideas for the ultimate play space. These ideas will directly influence the final design, ensuring that the playground truly reflects the imagination and needs of Marina’s youth.
At 6:30 pm at the Community Center (211 Hillcrest Ave, Marina 93933), Marina will officially kick-off this project with a community-wide event charged with excitement, energy, and enthusiasm. The celebration will include food, entertainment, activities, prize drawing, and opportunities to engage with talented playground designers.
Members of the press are encouraged to attend and capture this inspiring moment, as it highlights the power of collaboration and inclusivity.
