The City Council held the project’s second joint public workshop with the Planning Commission on the Local Coastal Plan (LCP) Update and received the Draft Vision and Goals Statement at a special meeting on June 13, 2019 at 6:30 pm in the City Council Chamber at 211 Hillcrest Avenue in Marina. All interested persons were invited to attend and participate in this workshop. Notices of the workshop were mailed to all property owners within the City’s Coastal zone as well as any interested parties.
The purpose of the workshop was to update the City Council and the Planning Commission on the work to date for the Update and to introduce draft Vision and Goals Statements. In order to begin drafting policies to be included in the LCP update, the City must first establish a vision with regard to sea level rise and coastal erosion and goals related to that vision. The City Council, Planning Commission and members of the public advised staff and the City's consultants on the Draft Vision and Goals Statements. Following City Council review of the revised draft at the next workshop, staff will forward the final Vision and Goals Statements to the California Coastal Commission (CCC) staff and will be posted to the website.
