Jenny McAdams is the newest member of the Marina City Council. She was appointed from a field of four other applicants at a special meeting of the Marina City Council held on February 28, 2024. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Cristina Medina Dirksen on January 28, 2024. Mayor Delgado said, “[Jenny] was unanimously selected by the City Council because she has vast experience with our region’s issues and governance as well as being an involved parent in Marina who is often seen around town. I personally am excited looking forward to the energy and positive spirit Jennnifer will add to City Council and the progress our community is making.”
Jenny is employed by the Monterey County Business Council and is active with various civic and community groups and was previously a former City Councilmember with Pacific Grove. She is the proud mother of three amazing children, and you'll often find her either at an MBFC game or browsing the stalls at the Marina Farmers Market.
Said McAdams in a statement, “I'm absolutely thrilled and deeply honored for this opportunity. Recently assuming roles on both the City of Marina’s Planning Commission and DEI Task Force, I felt a strong calling to contribute to the well-being of Marina's residents. When the opportunity arose, given my experience, it felt like the perfect fit for me to apply. I am grateful to the other applicants, and the Mayor and Council for their confidence in my ability to serve.”
Jenny will be sworn in at the Marina City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 5th starting at 6:30 pm at Marina City Hall. The community is invited to an open house reception 30 minutes prior to the start of the City Council meeting at 6:00 to meet with Marina’s newest City Councilmember.
The appointment will be through the remainder of former councilmember Cristina Medina Dirksen’s term ending November 2024.
