City of Marina Public Meeting Participation Changes

The City of Marina is taking additional steps by employing new public meeting participation and agenda setting practices to further slow the spread of COVID-19. These new practices are being implemented starting with the March 17, 2020 Council Meeting. Public Meetings will be affected as follows:

  • The frequency and length of public meetings, including the City Council, boards and commissions, will be minimized.  Non-urgent and non-essential City business with expected public feedback will be postponed.
  • Individuals attending public meetings in person will be required to maintain appropriate social distancing, (i.e., maintain a 6-foot distance) and be free of symptoms related to COVID-19.
  • Members of the public strongly encouraged to observe the live stream of the City Council and other Boards and Commission meetings at https://accessmediaproductions.org/.
  • If you choose not to attend a City Council meeting but wish to make a comment on a specific agenda item, please submit your comment via email by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Please submit your comment to the Deputy City Clerk at AShepherd@cityofmarina.org.  Your comment will be placed into the record at the meeting.

The City is strongly encouraging the public to send in their written comments by via email as provided in the bullet point above, and view the live meeting on Community Television Cable 25    or via the live stream by visiting at https://accessmediaproductions.org/ .

Governor Newsom issued a New Executive Order Further Enhancing State and Local Government’s Ability to Respond to COVID-19 Pandemic.  The Order contained specific provisions that, “Allows local and state legislative bodies to hold meetings via conference calls while still meeting state transparency requirements.”

Updates will be provided at least weekly and shared on the web and on all social media channels. The City of Marina thanks the community for understanding why the City put these important measures in place, and we encourage all residents to continue to take precautions during this peak potential outbreak of coronavirus locally.
