The City of Marina is accepting applications for three (3) Commissions, Tree Committee.
Interested individuals for City Commissions must be residents and registered voters of the City of Marina; and interested individuals for the Tree Committee must be residents of the City of Marina, with at one (1) at-large member who may reside outside the City.
Although applications may be submitted at any time, the filing deadline to interview for these openings is 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022, postmarks will be accepted.
Applications are available from the Office of the City Clerk located at 211 Hillcrest Avenue, Marina, California between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, calling 884-1278, or on the City of Marina website: www.cityofmarina.org
Interviews will be coordinated between October 17-21. Final approval of appointments by the City Council is tentatively scheduled for November 1, 2022.
v Public Works Commission: 2 seats expiring 2023 and 3 seats expiring February 2024
The Public Works Commission shall act as an advisory body to the City Council on matters pertaining to city parks, facilities and improvement of residential and commercial areas. The Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.
v Recreation & Community Services Commission: 2 seats expiring February 2024 and 3 seats expiring 2025
The Recreation and Cultural Services Commission acts as an advisory body to the City Council in the provision of recreation, cultural and public arts programs including services to seniors and youth and the implementation of art in public places. The Commission meets Quarterly at 6:15 p.m. on the first Wednesday.
v Planning Commission: 3 seats expiring February 2025
The Planning Commission is an advisory body to the City Council regarding the overall coordination of land use in the city and shall specifically perform those duties described in the ordinances and codes of the city. The Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
v Tree Committee 1-year terms (expiring April of each year): 3 seats should reside within the City of Marina, but one (1) at-large member may reside outside the City. Candidates should have experience in planning, landscaping and/or trees, or any related field.
