[ARCHIVED] Community Meeting on AB481

The Marina Police Department will hold it's annual community meeting as required by AB481 regarding it's possession and use of items deemed to be "military equipment". The Marina Police Department does not participate in the 1033 Program and has not obtained any military equipment from the military, nor does it possess any equipment that was designed for military use. However, we do possess equipment items that meet the definition of "military equipment" as outlined in state law under AB481. California Government Code § 7071(b) requires that law enforcement agencies with any such equipment submit a proposed Military Equipment Use Policy to their governing body for approval, and to review that policy annually. Part of that review process is to seek input from the public on our current policy regarding military equipment, as well as our current list of equipment we hold that is required to be disclosed under AB481.

Our community meeting will be hosted by Interim Police Chief Steve Russo and other members of the Marina Police Department. It will take place on September 7, 2023, from 6-7 PM, at the Rocky Han Community Center, 211 Hillcrest Avenue, in Marina.  We invite all in our community to join us to receive information, ask questions, and give your valuable feedback regarding this issue.
