Composition and Responsibilities

The Marina Police Records Bureau is currently staffed by a Records Supervisor and three Records Technicians. The duties of the Records Bureau include:  

  • Maintenance of all incident, arrest and traffic records prepared by department Assisting the general public, department personnel, and representatives from other agencies in obtaining police related information. 
  • Provides copies of police reports to citizens, insurance companies, lawyers, city prosecutor, county attorney, victim witness, etc. 
  • Processing of records related to warrants, subpoenas, summons and related paperwork. 
  • Completion of mandated state and federal monthly reports and crime statistics. 
  • Ensuring the proper disposal of confidential materials and reports that have met state purge criteria and images records for retention purposes.

Freedom of Information and Public Records Act Requests

The Marina Police Department Records Division is responsible for handling all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Public Records Act (PRA) request for police department records.  We utilize NextRequest powered by CivicPlus to assist in consistently and efficiently processing these requests from the public.  You can submit your PRA request at the following link:

Vehicle Releases

Vehicles that have been stored or impounded by the Marina Police Department will only be released to the registered owner listed on the DMV registration record. The only exception to that is if a non-registered owner has a notarized letter signed by the registered owner of record with DMV giving them authority to the take possession of the vehicle.  

In order to for a vehicle to be released, the registered owner must present the following documents to Records Bureau staff members:

  • A valid driver's license (or another licensed driver must accompany them and show their valid license)
  • Proof of valid insurance (30-Day Impound Only)
  • Valid vehicle registration or a temporary moving permit from the DMV
  • A signed and notarized letter of authorization if the person picking up the vehicle is not the registered owner.
