Responsibilities

The Community Development Department is comprised of two divisions:

Building & Permit Services is also a part of the Community Development Department issuing Building permits, conducting Building permit inspections, and undertaking code enforcement activities.

Planning & Development Services implements the General Plan, Local Coastal Program, Municipal Code, and state and federal laws; establishes procedures related to planning programming, code compliance, and planning-related inspection functions. Staff serve as a liaison to the Planning Commission, Design Review Board, and Tree Committee.
